There’s a bit of a story to this one, grab a coffee or an energy drink maybe.

I targeted Hype and offered my services because they had something I wanted and it wasn’t money or exposure….

The bloke at the top, I wanted his autograph!

So who is the bloke at the top? he’s clearly a cool guy or a celeb maybe?

Back in 1991 he and many others as a team won arguably the most iconic and prestigious race event, The 24 Heures du Mans.

And he did it in one of the most memorable (in my opinion) cars ever to take part in the event, the Mazda 787B, the only non piston car ever to win it and holy crap what a noise it makes, the engine? a rotary engine of course!

In-case you have not worked it out, aside from loving photography I am also a bit of a petrol head and the above mentioned racecar is a big reason why I own my own piece of automotive legendary in a 1996 Mazda RX-7, also a rotary engine and also in my opinion the most beautiful production car to come out of Japan.

So when I was gifted a limited framed print of the racecar by my father that he got signed by Johnny Herbert, and a Mazda pit crew member that was at the famous 1991 win I looked into the other two drivers of the car, because the race event is 24 hours long each team has 3 drivers,

Enter Volker Weidler and Bertrand Gachot

I made it my mission to get this framed print signed by these two.

So back to Hype then,

What an amazing team the Hype UK bunch are, they liaised with me to send my print and Mr Gachot I am extremely happy agreed to sign my piece.
